DEVELOPMENT of dynamic, thriving neighborhoods East, West and South
One of the primary reasons I entered this race is because I found it disappointing and irresponsible that the city’s development efforts over the years had not included neighborhoods in West, South and Old Louisville. Many streets in these areas have regressed to unacceptable levels, becoming a breeding ground for crime and plummeting home values, and leaving residents feeling marginalized and disconnected.
As Mayor, I will make it a top priority to rehabilitate and revitalize neighborhoods East, West and South, creating safe, livable, thriving communities with amenities and basic necessities including grocery stores and other healthy food choices, retail and restaurant options, and safe, welcoming, family-friendly parks.
In addition, I plan to be a steady presence in Frankfort to make the case for every dollar of Tax Increment Financing and other available funds to achieve our investment and development goals, and will extend tax incentives and other support to businesses locating in targeted areas.
The arts community can play a critical role in Louisville’s urban renewal efforts and as Mayor, I will support the creation of arts districts within these neighborhoods to expand the reach of the city’s cultural attractions and open up these areas to local residents and tourists.
